PromptGraph vs CarGenius: how the two dealer AI visibility approaches differ
Both publish AI visibility data on named dealerships. The methods, the scoring, and what you get afterward are different. Here is a fair side by side.
If you have searched "which Toyota dealer does AI recommend in Dallas," you have probably landed on a CarGenius report. They have published hundreds of brand-by-metro pages. We publish per-rooftop readiness scores and per-client visibility runs. Dealers ask us how the two compare, so here it is, based on what each company states publicly as of September 2026.

Where CarGenius is strong
Their public reports are the most visible dealer AI visibility content on the web right now. The non-branded Find, Buy, Service prompt structure is sound. Weighting anchor cities by search volume is the right call, and we do the same. Their citation-share data, which shows that DealerRater, Carfax, Cars.com, and Yelp are what AI leans on, is useful to every dealer regardless of vendor.
Where the approaches diverge
Relative grading. In a CarGenius report the top store in each lens is a 100 by definition. That means a store can be the leader in its market and still be invisible to an AI agent in absolute terms. We think dealers deserve to know both, so our scale does not bend to the field.
Readiness. Visibility tells a dealer who AI names. It does not tell them why. Without checking schema, crawler access, llms.txt, and agent endpoints, a report can only say "you are losing." Our readiness scan is the reason behind the number and the fix list that comes with it.
Disclosure. AI answers vary run to run. A report without prompt counts and repetitions cannot tell you whether a two-point gap is real. We publish both.
Sentiment. CarGenius reports include a sentiment score. In the reports we reviewed it landed in a narrow band across every store in a market. We do not publish one because it does not separate anyone.
The honest bottom line
If you want to know how your brand's stores rank against each other in a major metro today, a CarGenius report is a reasonable free read. If you want to know why your rooftop ranks where it does, what to fix, and whether the fix worked next month, that is what PromptGraph is built for. Run the free scan and compare the two reports on your own store.
Is PromptGraph more expensive than CarGenius?
CarGenius does not publish pricing. PromptGraph does: see the pricing page. Readiness Index scores are free for every store.
Can I get a PromptGraph report for a store CarGenius already published?
Yes. Every rooftop in the Readiness Index has a public page, and any store can request a full visibility run.

PromptGraph runs the readiness checks and the prompt-based visibility test on your rooftop, then deploys the fixes. Free scan first, no card.
